DAXXIFY®

What is DAXXIFY®?

DAXXIFY® is a new injectable for smoothing frown lines and wrinkles in adults – and the first major competitor for BOTOX® to enter the market in decades.

Like BOTOX®, DAXXIFY® belongs to an established family of medicines known as neuromodulators, with effects that typically last about three months. What makes DAXXIFY® different is that it often keeps frown lines and wrinkles at bay for longer.

In clinical trials, 80 percent of people who used DAXXIFY® had zero or minimally visible frown lines after four months – and half still had little evidence of frown lines after six months.

FDA approves DAXXIFY®

The safety and effectiveness of DAXXIFY® are well-documented after more than 20 years of research — the largest-ever clinic trial for a frown line treatment.

Today, DAXXIFY® is FDA-approved to smooth moderate to severe lines between the brows. It’s also the only frown line treatment with results that can last up to 6-9 months or more.

DAXXIFY® vs. BOTOX®

Products like DAXXIFY® and BOTOX® freeze frown lines and wrinkles by injecting a tiny amount of botulinum toxin type A directly into the underlying muscle, relaxing the tissue and smoothing the skin above. These effects wear off over time, requiring multiple injections each year to maintain the look of wrinkle-free skin.

All neuromodulators require a special ingredient to stabilize botulinum toxin type A, the protein responsible for smoothing all those unwanted lines and wrinkles. BOTOX® and others use human serum albumin (HSA), while some add animal products like cow’s milk protein.

DAXXIFY® is the only frown line treatment that is made from peptides and does not contain any human or animal products, which is why it delivers longer-lasting results.

Does DAXXIFY® work on all skin types?

Yes! The clinical trial for DAXXIFY® included nearly 3,000 people with varying skin types.

Is DAXXIFY® right for me?

If your frown line and wrinkle treatment doesn’t last as long as you would like, DAXXIFY® might be an excellent choice for you.

Because the results can last up to twice as long as other neuromodulators, some patients prefer to have an existing injectable routine before trying DAXXIFY®. Whether you’re new to Forefront Dermatology or already have an established relationship with our team, we’ll create a customized plan that works for you.

Worried about side effects? Don’t be – longer-lasting results doesn’t mean longer-lasting side effects, if you have any at all. The most common side effects (headache, etc.) occurred 1-2 weeks after injection and lasted only a short time, the same as other frown line treatments.

What happens during DAXXIFY® treatment?

DAXXIFY® is injected into your skin with a small needle. Most patients say the injection feels like a pinch. If you’re concerned about discomfort, ask your Forefront dermatologist about options for minimizing pain, such as topical numbing cream.

DAXXIFY® treatment requires minimal downtime, and you can get back to your daily routine immediately after your appointment. You may experience slight tenderness, redness, or swelling at the injection site for a short period of time. Then, all that’s left to do is enjoy the results! Patients typically see results in two days or less.

What does DAXXIFY® cost?

Your Forefront dermatologist will provide you with a cost breakdown – including a comparison of DAXXIFY® vs. BOTOX® if needed – and create a treatment plan that meets your aesthetic goals and your budget.
