Franklin D. Richards, MD, FACS
Long-standing resident of the Washington, D.C. metro area and a graduate of George Washington University in 1982, Dr. Franklin Richards is board certified and has been in practice since 1989. Dr. Richards is most renowned for his expertise in minimal incision face and neck lifts, breast augmentation, and body contouring.
Dr. Richards is also sought by individuals needing correction or improvement of previous cosmetic procedures. Patients who meet with Dr. Richards immediately recognize both the passion he has for his work and the professional manner in which he interacts with people.

Integrating into a leadership role in the plastic surgery field, Dr. Richards was voted President of the National Capital Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2002 and is the past Chief of Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins/Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD. He has presented at national meetings and been published in national professional journals. Dr. Richards’ most recent published article, co-authored by Dr. Jabs, describes a new and exceptional surgical technique that markedly reduces pain after breast augmentation.
He has been the recipient of both the Physician’s Recognition Award from the American Medical Association (AMA) and the prestigious Certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).
Dr. Richards was recognized by the Consumers’ Checkbook in their “Top Doctors” list and included in the Guide to America’s Top Plastic Surgeons by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.
Dr. Richards’ skill and expertise as a cosmetic surgeon have also been established locally. Washingtonian magazine has recognized him in their “Top Plastic Surgeons” list and is included in the Guide to America’s Top Plastic Surgeons by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. His expert opinion has been sought by numerous prominent publications, including The Washington Post and Washingtonian magazine.
As a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a member of several distinguished surgical associations including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), Dr. Richards continues to avail himself of the collective knowledge and progress in fields of plastic and cosmetic surgery.
Committed to a sense of service, Dr. Richards has volunteered on several medical missions abroad and has had the privilege of serving his country as a member of the United States Armed Forces. He transformed the lives of dozens of children with birth defects and other deformities through his service missions in Haiti and Honduras. He had the opportunity to be an attending plastic surgeon at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He also received the Meritorious Service Medal for his outstanding service while he was the Burn Unit Director at William Beaumont Army Medical Center during Desert Storm.
