Malan Kern, MD, FAAD

Dr. Malan Kern, MD, FAAD is a skilled dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon with comprehensive experience in providing general medical, pediatric, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. He has a special interest in the detection and treatment of skin cancer and is board certified in Mohs Micrographic Surgery.

He attended Emory University in Atlanta, GA for his undergraduate degree in Biology. He later attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR, for medical school. During medical school, he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. After finishing medical school, he continued at the medical center to complete his internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology. During the last year of his Dermatology residency, he served as Chief Resident. He has had extensive training in dermatologic oncology and Mohs Micrographic Surgery at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Dr. Kern is a published author and researcher. During medical school, he was awarded the Honors in Research certificate for his basic science and translational research on Merkle Cell Carcinoma, an aggressive skin cancer. His work has been published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals spanning dermatology, clinical oncology, and dermatopathology. More recently, his work was published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine.

Dr. Kern is an active member and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He has presented at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
