Mid-Face Lift (Cheek Lift)
What is a mid-face lift (cheek lift)?
A mid-face lift, sometimes called a cheek lift, is a cosmetic procedure that tightens the skin from the upper mouth to eye area. Rather than undergoing a full-face lift, a mid-face lift can give you a more youthful-looking appearance by reducing under-eye bags, smoothing laugh lines, tightening saggy cheeks, and more.
REQUEST NOWHow does a mid-face lift work?
As our skin ages, it begins to lose its natural ability to snap back into place, causing looser skin and sagging. And as our skin ages, the structures beneath it – muscles, fat, ligaments, and even bones – become less stable as well. During a mid-face lift, your surgeon will manipulate muscle and reposition fat under the skin to:
• Remove excess skin that sags
• Smooth out wrinkles
• Lift and tighten facial skin
• Plump the area around the eyes
A mid-face lift can be a great option for patients who want tighter skin, more prominent cheekbones, and brighter eyes, yet don’t want work done on their forehead or jawline.
How is a mid-face lift performed?
To perform a mid-face lift, a surgeon makes two small incisions by your hairline – the same as those made in a traditional face lift. However, the surgeon cuts much more deeply into facial muscles in this newer procedure, allowing them to pull up the muscles around the nose and in the cheek area.
A mid-face lift surgery lasts approximately two hours, unless additional procedures are being completed at the same time.
Will I have scars from the mid-face lift incisions?
In most cases, the scars will be hidden behind your ears or along your hairline. Immediately after your mid-face lift, the scars will likely be red and raised – however, they should fade over time.
What else can I expect during mid-face lift recovery?
A mid-face lift has the same potential risks and side effects as a traditional face lift, including bruising, swelling, inflammation, pain, infection, and nerve damage. Your surgeon may advise you to sleep lightly elevated on your back as you heal, and you should avoid strenuous activity or exercise for at least three weeks.
Ice or a cold compress can help relieve minimal bruising and swelling for the first 24-48 hours. You can likely return to work and resume your daily activities a week or two after the procedure.
What will the results of my mid-face lift be?
Full recovery from a mid-face lift may take several months, but most patients see full results in just 2-3 months. If your cheeks look “overcorrected” at first, do not panic – they should settle into a more natural position over time.
What does a mid-face lift cost?
an average cost of $6,000-$8,000 or more. Thankfully, you do have less invasive (and less expensive) non-surgical options.
