What is SkinPen?

First, your Forefront dermatologist attaches a new cartridge with 12 surgical-grade stainless steel needles to the end of the SkinPen. Next, we use the SkinPen to make hundreds to thousands of tiny holes in the top layer of your skin, stimulating the skin’s healing process and the production of collagen and elastin across the treatment area.

How do patients prepare for a SkinPen procedure?
Stay out of the sun and do not use any topical retinoids (prescription acne treatments) for 24 hours before the procedure. If you are prone to cold sores, you may want to initiate antiviral therapy prior to the procedure to avoid a flare-up. Otherwise, come relaxed and ready to improve the feel and appearance of your skin.
Does SkinPen microneedling require any aftercare?
SkinPen microneedling is a minimally-invasive procedure that requires little to no downtime. You may experience slight inflammation (similar to a mild sunburn) and should avoid using cosmetics for the first 24 hours.
Most patients can return to normal activities right away. However, we do recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, and sun exposure for the first few days after treatment.
