What is a “facelift”?
A facelift and/or neck lift can restore a more youthful appearance for many years. Facelift and neck lift procedures are frequently performed to revitalize the midface, lower face, and neck.
A “facelift” (rhytidectomy) is surgical procedure used to rejuvenate the face. A facelift and/or necklift (platysmaplasty) may lift and smooth out skin around the jowls, mouth and/or neck. Dr. Park is skilled in providing a long lasting and natural lift with less downtime and better results. At your consultation, Dr. Park will recommend a facelift, neck lift or both to address your concerns.
How long does a facelift usually take to perform?
The time needed for this procedure is estimated on a case by case basis. Overall, the procedure is 2-4 hours.
How do you perform a facelift?
Dr. Park uses a deep plane lift method to ensure better results affecting the area under the eye, around the nose, and above the mouth. An incision is made near the hairline just behind and in front of ear along the hairline. Dr. Park performs the procedure at our own surgical center.
Who is a good candidate for a facelift?
Facelift and necklift patients are typically 40-65 years of age and want to address “sagging” skin due to loss of elasticity. They may notice deep wrinkles or loose skin around the neck and jowls and/or lines around the mouth. Patients whose concerns are concentrated in the lower face may be candidates for a modified version of the facelift that is often referred to as a mini facelift, or lower facelift.
How much does a facelift cost?
The price of your facelift and/or neck lift will depend on the techniques required to resolve your concerns, the total surgery time, and whether you combine your facelift and/or neck lift with additional procedures. All costs associated with your treatment will be reviewed with you prior to scheduling your surgery.
What are realistic expectations for a patient having a facelift?
A facelift, neck lift, or combination of the two can improve the appearance of sagging tissue around the lower face. The overall appearance of “smile lines,” saggy cheeks or jowls, and loose skin around the neck can be improved.
Facelifts do not correct much of the signs of aging in the upper face. An upper and lower eyelid surgery, brow lift, or laser skin resurfacing may be needed in conjunction with this procedure to address those concerns.
How long does it take for a patient to recover from a facelift?
Most patients experience swelling and bruising post facelift and neck lift procedure. Recovery times vary, and level of pain is case by case. Most patients report mild to moderate pain during the first 24 hours post-surgery. The patient can return home after the procedure and will be assisted by an overnight nurse.
Patients will be able to return to light activity within a week, but should abstain from strenuous exercise until Dr. Park has cleared them. Once the sutures are removed (typically one week) the patient can resume moderate activity.
What is a rhinoplasty/septoplasty (nosejob)?
Dr. Park is highly recommended for reshaping the nose. He is a double Board-Certified ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) and completed his fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery. He completed his fellowship at the prestigious Lasky Clinic. Due to his extensive training on the face only, he would be an exceptional choice for this procedure. Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is a procedure that reconstructs the outer shape of the nose. This procedure is considered a cosmetic surgery to reshape the nose. A septoplasty or correction of the septum is a procedure that treats some types of breathing problems and reconstructs the inner parts of the nose. Most insurance companies may cover all or a portion of a septoplasty procedure.
How long does a rhinoplasty/septoplasty usually take to perform?
Depending on the complexity, the procedure can take anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours if both the inside and outside of the nose are being corrected. Each case must be evaluated by the doctor during your complimentary consult. At that time, a proper estimate of time in surgery will be provided to you.
How do you perform a rhinoplasty/septoplasty?
On the day of surgery, the patient will be put to sleep under anesthesia. During the procedure, cuts may be made on the inside of the nostrils or alternatively, the skin may be lifted off of the cartilage. The first method allows for less swelling and downtime but is more difficult for patients seeking changes to the tip of their nose. The latter is preferred for cases in which the patient would like to adjust the size of the tip of their nose. Upon consultation, Dr. Park will explain which method he will use depending on the changes you are seeking.
Who is a good candidate for rhinoplasty/septoplasty?
Patients with breathing issues may benefit from a Septoplasty procedure. The doctor will determine if Septoplasty would be an appropriate treatment for your concerns. Most patients seek changes to the nose in their 20s and 30s. The face tends to change naturally during this time, thus changing the structure of the nose can easily be altered. Many of our patients have wanted a specific change to their nose for an extensive amount of time. We want you to have the best possible results! After your consultation, we will email your imaging so that you have adequate time to review the changes and confirm that it’s exactly what you want!
How long does it take for a patient to recover from a rhinoplasty/septoplasty?
The patient will need to come in for 24 hours follow-up post-surgery. Then, the doctor will see the patient in one week to remove the cast and straws from the nose. Dr. Park will continue to see the patient at one month, six months, and twelve months post-surgery. Bruising may occur during the first week following the procedure. The patient can resume most activities after one week, but will still have some swelling for a few months.
