Sami is a board certified Physician Assistant specializing in medical and cosmetic dermatology. She is originally from Leitchfield, Kentucky and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Chemistry from Brescia University. After receiving her undergraduate degree she worked for the University of Louisville conducting brain and spinal cord injury research. She then worked in the biotherapeutic industry and obtained a Master’s degree in Regulatory Affairs from Northeastern University.

In 2012 she chose to pursue her love of the field of medicine and began the physician assistant program at Eastern Virginia Medical School. She graduated the program with honors in 2015 and began practicing in the field of dermatology. Since graduating, she has had the opportunity to train with one of the top Cosmetic Dermatologists in the area and has developed a passion for both cosmetic and medical dermatology. She is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Sami is passionate about patient care and medical research and her goal is to build lasting relationships with patients while delivering exceptional care.

Sami lives in Virginia Beach with her husband Ben, a dentist, and two toddlers. When she is not at work or chasing toddlers, she enjoys boating, biking, and spending time with family and friends.

This was my first time to visit for Forefront Dermatology. Sami was amazing. She was very welcoming and easy to talk to. She took time to get to know me. She was very thorough in addressing my concerns. I had to have a small procedure and it was painless. She also answered general questions I had about some other things. Sami McCarty is really great and knows her stuff. Efficient in identifying each ding you have on your body and what to do about it. She is fast and smooth in taking action on your dings and giving you the direction to go on follow up. Her assistant on my visit was Aja Johnson (great smile) who did a fantastic job documenting the entire process. Also, the ladies at the front desk were super pleasant and efficient. Absolutely awesome experience with Sami McCarty at Forefront Dermitology! Never felt like just another patient coming to her practice. She genuinely listened to my concerns and professionally addressed remedies for my conditions. Sami and all the staff are always pleasant and personable. I was greeted kindly and courteously. After a short wait I was put placed in an exam room where the assistant gave was instructions on how to dress for the exam. Sami the PA came into the room with a smile. She was easy to talk to and made a full skin exam easy and I was not uncomfortable at all. I appreciate having such a lively provider in Elizabeth City. I t certainly was my pleasure to meet the whole team.
