What is Collagen P.I.N. microneedling

Percutaneous Induction Therapy (P.I.N.) is a cutting-edge process that creates micro-punctures in the skin to induce collagen production. If you have fine lines, acne scars, or are simply seeking younger looking skin, Collagen P.I.N. treatment may be your answer.

How does Collagen P.I.N. microneedling work?

Using tiny needles, a specialist creates controlled micro-injuries to the skin which induce the natural production of collagen and elastin. As the skin repairs itself, it becomes thicker and more elastic, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and scars. Automated microneedling also creates superficial micro-channels that allow topical serums and creams to be absorbed more effectively into the skin.

What is a Collagen P.I.N. microneedling session like?

When you arrive at a Forefront Dermatology practice, your skin will be cleansed and a topical anesthetic will be applied 30 minutes prior to treatment. After the anesthetic takes effect, your skin will be cleansed and treatment will begin.

First, your provider will apply a thin layer of topical hyaluronic serum to your skin and then attach a sterile needle-tip containing 36 tiny micro-needles to the Collagen P.I.N.

Next, in a single motion, the Collagen P.I.N. will gently glide across your skin in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. This results in thousands of microscopic channels throughout the treatment area. Your provider will select the appropriate needle depth and number of passes required to properly treat your skin concerns.

What results can be expected from Collagen P.I.N. microneedling?

Collagen P.I.N. is considered a “no-downtime” treatment, so you can go about your daily routine when you leave the office. Immediately after treatment, your skin will look slightly pink to moderately red and can last for 24 hours. Your medical provider will recommend skin care products for your post-care based on your individual skin, which will greatly minimize these symptoms and enhance your overall results.

Your skin’s repair process begins almost immediately after treatment, with noticeable changes in about a week. Fibroblasts – the cells that synthesize new collagen – are active for up to one year after treatment.

For lasting results, a series of treatments is recommended. Your provider will discuss the best regimen for your skin condition and goals. It’s typical for a series of 4-6 treatments to be scheduled twice a year for most aesthetic skin concerns.
