Katherine Theresa Hrynewycz, MD

Dr. Kate Hrynewycz is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon specializing in the precise removal of skin cancer and advanced reconstructive surgery. Originally from northern Indiana, Dr. Hrynewycz earned her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. Driven by a passion for surgical procedures, she completed a general surgery internship followed by a dermatology residency at Indiana University.

To provide her patients with the highest level of care, she completed a prestigious fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery under Dr. Gary Monheit, a pioneer in the field who trained directly with the founder of the technique, Dr. Frederic Mohs. During this time, Dr. Hrynewycz performed over 3,000 procedures. She also sought specialized training under Dr. Jill Waibel, an internationally recognized leader in laser surgery, to master advanced treatments for complex scarring and skin restoration.

Throughout her career, Dr. Hrynewycz has been a leader in expanding access to specialized care. She launched the first-ever Mohs unit at the Indianapolis, VA hospital and served as the Director of the Laser Program at the Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center. Whether she is treating a routine skin cancer or a complex case, her goal is always the same: to provide a cure while prioritizing a beautiful, natural-looking result.

Dr. Hrynewycz is thrilled to join the Forefront Dermatology team. She and her husband, a plastic surgeon, recently moved to the area to be closer to family. With her husband originally from Greensburg and their extended family nearby, she is honored to serve the community she now calls home.
