Botox is the most popular cosmetic surgery treatment – with over a whopping six million Botox treatments administered every year to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Botox is also used to treat such problems as repetitive neck spasms, excessive sweating, overactive bladder and lazy eye.
If you have never gotten Botox before one of the most confusing things is how many units of Botox do you need? According to Dr. Saundra Seaman, board-certified dermatologist with Forefront Dermatology, “The amount of units of Botox needed will vary by the area or areas you would like to treat. This is the general rule of thumb to give you a better estimate:
- Frown lines on average need 20 units of Botox
- Crows feet on average need 24 units of Botox
- Forehead lines, on average, need 20 units of Botox
“These are just guidelines for treatment,” added Dr. Seaman. “Each patient is different. Each area is different. It is important to be seen by an experienced injector with the right qualifications to achieve the best results. Safe quality, effective Botox treatments with great results come at a reasonable market price. Buyer beware.”
