What is belotero®?

Belotero® is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid-based injectable filler. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts and holds water, so it hydrates and plumps the skin. When injected as filler, it can restore volume in areas where skin has become thin and has lost elasticity.

What can belotero® treat?

As we age, we stop producing collagen, which is responsible for creating structure in the skin. This is when skin becomes loose and begins to sag. Lack of collagen is most noticeable around the mouth and nose, as well as in the cheeks and forehead.

When injected around the mouth, Belotero® plumps the skin to minimize smile lines and define the lips. It can also be used to contour the chin and nose, add volume to sunken cheeks and temples, and smooth wrinkles in the neck and chest areas.

What is a belotero® treatment session like?

Our skin experts at Forefront will first consult with you to discuss your aesthetic concerns and goals. We will work to develop a treatment plan that is safe, effective and personalized for your health needs and the condition of your skin.

Belotero® treatment involves using a fine needle to inject the dermal filler into the target area. The procedure is typically completed in less than 20 minutes, after which you can leave the office and go about your day as usual.

When should I expect to see results from belotero®?

You should have noticeable results right after your treatment, with optimum results visible in one to two weeks.

What can I expect from recovery?

You should be able to resume regular activity almost immediately after treatment. You might experience some slight pain and swelling at the injection site, but applying ice or a cold pack will provide quick relief.

For best results, we recommend avoiding the following for 24 hours after Belotero® treatment:

  • strenuous exercise
  • direct sun exposure or extreme heat
  • alcohol intake
  • non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and aspirin
  • stimulation to your face (such as a massage)
