Rebecca Chen, MD

Dr. Rebecca Chen is a double board-certified dermatologist with advanced fellowship training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Dr. Chen approaches dermatologic surgery with a commitment to precision and technical excellence, by pairing rigorous, evidence-based care with meticulous surgical technique and an uncompromising attention to detail. 

A Bay Area native, Dr. Chen graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley, where she earned dual degrees in Molecular & Cell Biology and Economics. She subsequently received her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College and completed an additional research fellowship year at Stanford University. 

She completed her medical internship at Mount Sinai before pursuing her dermatology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Following residency, Dr. Chen returned to the Bay Area for advanced training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Surgery at California Skin Institute, receiving specialized training in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, cutaneous oncology, complex skin cancer surgery, and surgical reconstruction. 

As a Mohs surgeon, Dr. Chen is particularly passionate about the delicate balance between complete cancer removal and preservation of healthy tissue. Her surgical philosophy is grounded in precision, attention to detail, and thoughtful reconstruction, with the goal of achieving the highest standard of oncologic clearance while preserving natural appearance and function. 

An accomplished academic, Dr. Chen has presented her research at numerous national conferences and remains actively involved in the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Her academic background and commitment to continuing education allow her to remain at the forefront of advances in skin cancer detection, treatment, and dermatologic surgery. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Chen enjoys baking, traveling, and exploring new restaurants throughout the Bay Area.
