Blue light therapy is a system designed to treat cancerous lesions, wherein a light-sensitizing chemical solution is applied to the skin area and exposed to blue light.

How does Blue Light Therapy?

The photosensitive chemicals absorbed by the skin react with the light to generate reactive oxygen that destroy precancerous or cancerous skin cells. It can also be used to treat acne.

What can Blue Light Therapy treat ?

Used to treat those with precancerous and cancerous skin cells, it’s important to know the signs of skin cancer. Actinic keratosis is one symptom of skin cancer, and is identified as rough, scaly patches on the skin caused by excessive exposure to the sun.

Blue light therapy is optimal for individuals with multiple lesions (20-30) because they can be treated all at once. Treatment can also be administered to those who wish to remove patches resulting from overexposure to the sun. Lastly, blue light therapy has been shown to be effective in fighting acne in lieu of traditional creams and antibiotics.

What is a Blue Light Therapy session like ?

The photo-sensitizing agent is applied to your skin, where it is then absorbed. Once absorbed, a blue light is applied, causing the drug to react with oxygen, forming a chemical that kills the harmful cells.
